We shine the spotlight on our gorgeous ‘Venus, Cupid, Folly & Time’ boxset.
This limited edition release contains twelve 2CD sets. Nine of the albums have been remastered – from ‘Liberation’ to ‘Bang Goes The Knighthood’. Their second discs feature a treasure trove of B-sides, alternate takes and demos put together by Neil Hannon. Recent albums ‘Foreverland’ and ‘Office Politics’ have been updated with new bonus CDs.
Exclusive to the boxset is ‘Juveneilia’, a two disc compilation of early material hand-picked by Neil from his personal archive. Of special note is the CD edition of ‘A Short Album About Love’ which comes with a DVD of ‘A Short Film About A Short Album About Love’ – a previously unreleased 50-minute film of the Shepherd’s Bush Empire concert at which ‘Short Album..’ was recorded.
All the CDs come with a booklet of photos and extensive liner notes written by Neil covering the context and inspiration behind the album and its songs.
The 2CD sets come packed in slipcases featuring illustrations by acclaimed artist Mathieu Persan. Each cover takes inspiration from each album it represents. Also included in the box is a book with the lyrics from all eleven main albums, accompanied by pages from Neil’s original notebooks.
